If you are going to own any of the Pokemon sets, make sure it's this one. It's such a wonderful, if repetitive, build! For $30, this was a wonderful build and I'm so happy I was able to find one so early! A majority of the body pieces are very, very similar and because of that, the building process has a lot of repeat steps with very few differences. I found it rather boring, but at the same time I was smiling as I saw the Gyarados come together. It was such a thrilling experience that I had not had with a Mega Construx set in a long time.
There are a few problems I had with the set, though they are very minor. They don't make it super clear which pieces are suppose to go where because and so a piece that's suppose to be more towards the center of the body may be placed by the head or tail and it creates problems as there's a specific place you need to place each body part so that the Pokemon can be properly displayed. This leads me to my other issue with the set.
The baseplate is beautiful and full of life as waves crash into rocks and foam effects add little details. But it also only has a 2x2 space that connects the massive Pokemon to the baseplate. The rest lies on the rocks and water the base offers but it's rather annoying to try to get the parts to connect, especially since only one of the ten body pieces connects to the baseplate. I understand why they made this choice, for posability, but it's very hard to get a good pose because of this.
Overall, I enjoyed this set VERY much and the issues I had were minor and easily solved. Pick up this set if you want a good Mega Construx set or if you are a fan of Pokemon. It's amazing.
